CO2 skin resurfacing lasers are used for skin rejuvenation, to provide skin tightening and for softening of skin lines. They can also be used for treatment of depressed scars, such as acne scars, resulting in a more even skin surface. In addition, brown spots or hyperpigmentation can respond well to laser treatment.
The Coherent® CO2 laser is used for aggressive treatment of wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and skin irregularities. Skin resurfacing with the Coherent® CO2 laser is fully ablative, treating the entire skin surface. New skin forms that is smoother and younger looking. The procedure is done under IV sedation or general anesthesia. Sun protection is absolutely essential to protect the new skin the first year after laser treatment.
CO2 laser resurfacing is often used to treat:
:: vertical lip lines
:: facial wrinkles or creases in the forehead, cheeks and around the eyes
:: irregular skin texture
:: acne scars
The DOT SmartXide® CO2 laser is a fractionated CO2 laser that treats approximately 15 to 25% of the skin surface. The treatment is done in the office with numbing cream. Benefits of the DOT (dermal optical thermolysis) laser include reduced skin pigmentation, softening of skin lines and collagen stimulation, giving a refreshed appearance to the skin. Post treatment, there is redness and swelling which can usually be concealed with makeup after 4 to 7 days.
The DOT SmartXide® CO2 laser is often used to:
:: lighten areas of pigmentation
:: smooth uneven skin tone
:: soften fine facial lines or wrinkles
:: lessen acne scars
:: freshen the appearance of sundamaged or aged skin
All CO2 and DOT laser treatments are performed by our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Therese-Anne LeVan.
