Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a method of facial exfoliation that uses a sterile surgical blade to remove the top layer of dulling dead skin cells and facial hair. This reveals a smoother and brighter complexion immediately. Most skin types will benefit from dermaplaning which encourages faster cellular turnover and stimulates new collagen growth. Dermaplaning should be avoided if you are experiencing current inflamed acne lesions, active cold sores or open skin lesions.

You are a good candidate for Dermaplaning if you would like:

:: smoother skin

:: fine lines diminished

:: removal of fine facial hair (vellus hair)

:: a procedure with no downtime

Office procedure: You will clean your face with soap and water. Additional cleansing will be done with an alpha-hydroxy acid facial wash. A toner will remove any trapped dirt and oil to prepare the skin. A sterile surgical blade will be used to remove the top layer of dulling dead skin cells and fine facial hair. The procedure takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

What to expect with treatment: You may experience slight redness and your face may be sensitive for a day or so afterwards. Your skin will feel noticeably smoother. After your procedure it is important to use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher to reduce risks from sun exposure and possible hyperpigmentation. Most patients have dermaplaning once a month, but it can be done every 2-3 weeks if you prefer.
