Hand Peel

Our Hand Peel uses a combination of exfoliating acids and a skin lightener to improve the texture and tone of your hands. It helps to diminish areas of hyperpigmentation and age spots and also lessens fine lines and coarse wrinkles to reveal brighter, younger looking hands. Although you may see noticeable improvement in the texture and tone of your skin after only one treatment, a series of 3 or 4 treatments may be needed to give a more optimal result.

You may be a good candidate for the Hand Peel if you are interested in reducing the appearance of:

:: dark spots on the back of your hands

:: fine lines or coarse wrinkles

:: uneven skin tone or texture

Office procedure: After cleansing your hands with a gentle cleanser, the areas to be treated will be cleansed with a preparatory solution. One layer of the Hand Peel solution will then be applied to each hand for 1 to 3 minutes. Up to 4 layers may be applied depending on how your skin reacts. You may feel a mild tingling or heat sensation and your skin may become slightly red. 1 to 3 layers will be applied depending on how your skin reacts. After the desired effect is obtained, your treatment will be completed by soothing your hands with a neutralizing agent.

What to expect with treatment: You may have some redness of the treated areas for a few days after your Hand Peel. Around day 3 to 5 after treatment, you may notice some flaking of the skin which may last another 3 to 5 days. If no flaking occurs, this is also normal. The peel solution is still working to break down damaged skin cells which will be washed away with normal cleansing. Sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater should be applied to the back of your hands for at least 7 days following your Hand Peel.

Q&A:

Q: How soon after the Hand Peel can I get my hands wet or use hand sanitizer?

A: You can wash your hands or use hand sanitizer immediately after the procedure, however, your hands may feel sensitive when using hand sanitizer for the first 24 after treatment.

Q: How do I treat itching after the Hand Peel?

A: It is normal to have itching when the skin starts to flake or peel. Apply a thin layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor to help the itching. Keep your hands moisturized with lotion so the skin stays soft and does not crack.

Q: Why did my dark spots get darker a few days after the Hand Peel?

A: It is not unusual for dark spots to initially get a little darker after the Hand Peel. They will lighten after the skin cells that have reacted to the peel have exfoliated.
