Micropeel

Micropeels are light chemical peels using an alpha- or beta-hydroxy acid and are often referred to as “lunchtime” peels, since they require no recovery time. They are safe for all skin types and offer significant advantage over skin care products alone.

Alpha-hydroxy acid peels with Glycolic or Lactic acid can improve skin texture and radiance, diminish fine lines, lighten dark spots and even out skin tone. Alpha-hydroxy acid peels are done in combination with Dermaplaning which uses a scalpel to remove vellus hair (peach fuzz) and allow the acid to penetrate more evenly and effectively.

Beta-hydroxy acid peels with Salicylic acid work to reduce acne blemishes, decrease the apparent size of your pores and lessen future breakouts.

For maximum results, we recommend starting with 4 to 6 Micropeel treatments, having one every 4-6 weeks. After completion of the initial series, maintenance Micropeel treatments are often done every 2-3 months for continued benefit.

If you have any of the following skin issues you may be a good candidate for a Micropeel:

:: photo-aged skin

:: fine lines or wrinkles

:: dark spots or areas of hyperpigmentation

:: dull appearing skin

:: acne breakouts

Office procedure: You will cleanse your face with soap and water. Additional cleansing will be done with an alpha-hydroxy acid cleanser. A toner will be used to remove any trapped dirt and oil to prepare the skin. Dermaplaning is done in combination with Glycolic acid and Lactic acid peels. One layer of the alpha-hydroxy acid is applied followed by a neutralizing agent after the clinical response is obtained. Your face will then be rinsed with water and an emollient sunscreen applied. With the Salicylic acid peel, one to three layers of the acid is applied. After crystallization of the beta-hydroxy acid is noted, your face will be rinsed with water.

What to expect with treatment: You may experience a mild burning or stinging sensation during the procedure. With the Glycolic and Lactic acid peels, your skin will immediately feel noticeably smoother. You may have slight redness and your face may feel sensitive for a day or so after treatment. With the Salicylic acid peel, you may have flaking or peeling for several days which may last up to a week. After your procedure it is important to use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher to reduce risks from sun exposure and possible hyperpigmentation. For optimal results, a series of 4 to 6 Micropeels is recommended.
